The law reveals the:

Biblical Teaching on the Law: The Law is Good

The word law is found almost 400 times in Scripture.  It refers to a rule that governs human conduct and represents God's perfect character (in most cases).

There are several categories of law in Scripture:

Natural law - which is also called intrinsic law that God requires of all creatures Lev. 11:44; 1 Pet. 1:16, “I am the Lord your God…be holy, for I am holy.”  The law was binding on all before Moses Gen. 26:5; Rom. 2:14-15; 5:12-14.

Law prescribed by man - which is human government and other rules established after the flood by God Gen. 9:6; Matt. 20:15; Luke 20:22; Acts 19:38; 1 Tim. 1:8-10.

Law of Moses - which was divinely given by angels (Acts 7:53; Gal. 3:19; Heb. 2:2) through Moses to govern Israel in the Promised Land.  It defined their daily life, their relationships with each other, and their approach to God through the priesthood.  It was a covenant of works (Ex. 19:5,6), which depended on the holy actions of the people and will be superceded by the New Covenant at the Second Advent of Jesus Christ (Jer. 31:31-34).  It is composed of three aspects:
The Commandments, which include the government of Israel Ex. 20:1-17.  They are condensed to the Great Commandment (Matt. 22:36-40), fulfilled by love (Rom. 13:10), and are holy, just and good (Rom. 7:7-13).
The Judgments, which include the social obligations Ex. 21:1-23:33.
The Ordinances, which regulate worship Ex. 25:1-31:18.

These three aspects were God's intention, standard, and direction for holy living before the cross.  The entire system ceased when Jesus fulfilled the Law (John 1:17; Rom. 10:4).   The Law revealed the character of sin (Rom. 5:13).  Furthermore, it was preceded (Ex. 19:4) and succeeded (John 1:17) by grace.

Revealed Law of God - which comes from God besides the Law of Moses Romans 7:15-25.  It is the will of God revealed for all people.  It is that direction, purpose, will of God that reflects His holy character to which believers are destined to live and be conformed to.

Law of Christ - which refers to the highest standard for the believer today.  It includes all grace teachings who is a slave of righteousness (Rom. 6:16,18,19).  It includes the following laws:
The law of liberty 1 Cor. 8:1-6
The law of love 1 Cor. 8:7-13
The law of supreme sacrifice 1 Cor. 9:1-15
The law of accommodation 1 Cor. 9:16-23
