Biblical Teaching on Deaths
Abraham's body was dead (Rom. 4:19). What does that mean?
Death means separation in its basic meaning.
There are nine kinds of death in Scripture.
Physical death- separation of the soul (and hs) from the body 2 Cor. 5:1-8; Phil. 1:20,21; cf. Rom. 8:38,39
Spiritual death Rom. 5:12; 6:23; 1 Cor. 15:22; Eph. 2:1-5; Gen. 2:17; (22:17; 18:10,18; 28:22; 1 Sam. 9:8).
Positional death (Retro-active Positional Truth - RAPT) where the believer is identified with Christ's deaths and burial Rom. 6:3,4; Col. 2:12,20; 3:3.
Temporal death, or carnality, the believer is separated from fellowship with God in time because of personal sins Jas. 1:15; Rom. 8:6,13; 1 Tim. 5:6 Rev. 3:1; 1 Jn. 3:14.
Operational death, separation the believer from divine operating power where he is no longer producing divine works, but under the influence of evil Jas. 2:26 no production. Heb. 6:1 This is long term of disobedience.
Sexual death or separation from the ability to have produce from the organs of reproduction Rom. 4:17-21; Heb. 11:11,12.
Sin Unto Death is separation from the plan of God in time by means of physical death, because of lack of usefulness. He is an intrusion and is characterized by constant rebellion and suffering in the soul 1 Jn. 5:16
Second Death is separation of the soul of the unbeliever from any chance or restoration or fellowship with God. Eternal separation from God. Rev. 2:11; Heb. 9:27; Rev. 20:12-15.
Death in marriage Rom. 7:1-3. In the death of a spouse or in divorce (cf. Deut. 24:1-4; 1 Cor. 7:27,28), the marriage is dead.
Abraham was dead sexually, but he did not waver at the promise of God and lived His life believing that promise, thus Isaac was born. What do you see or consider as impossible, yet God has called to be. Will you trust God at His Word by the power of His Spirit that He will bring it to pass?
Biblical Teaching on Sanctification.
Sanctification means to be set apart to God and by God for His purposes from what is unholy. A believer is a saint because of sanctification, not because of how the believer lives.
Sanctification does not mean:
Previous improvement for God is Himself holy and He has never been less holy than He is now.
Sinless perfection for Israel was holy to the Lord, but they were not sinless.
Finality for people are called to higher degrees of holiness.
There are three categories of sanctification
Positional sanctification or phase I at salvation at the Baptism of the Holy Spirit
Experiential sanctification or phase 2 during time after salvation the believers grows by faith in God's Word transformed by the Holy Spirit. It is the result of:
Yielding to God Rom. 12:1; 6:22
Freedom from sin Rom. 6:1-14; 1 John 2:1-2
Christian growth 2 Pet. 3:18
Ultimate sanctification or phase 3 at death in eternity future. At that point the believer is disrobed of the mortal body and the believer receives a resurrection body minus the sin nature. The soul becomes blameless and all memories not related to Christ are wiped out (no more sorrow).
There are four agents of sanctification
First agent is Christ for phase 1 and 2 Eph. 5:26; Heb. 2:11; 9:13-14; 13:12.
Second agent is God Holy Spirit for phase 1 and 2, which sets the believer aside after baptism of HS Rom. 15:16; 1 Cor. 12:13; 2 Thes. 2:13
Third agent is the word of God John 17:17
Fourth agent is God the Father as agent of phase 3 1 Thes. 5:23
The believer can sanctify God, that is set God apart as the focus of a holy life 1 Pet. 3:15
Will you live your life as set apart to God's calling regardless of how you feel and regardless of the circumstances? If you will, you will see God transform your life!
